Liverpool continued winning ways in the Champions League with a 2-0 victory against Italian side Bologna.
Goals from Alexis Mac Allister and Mohamed Salah were enough to secure 3 points at Anfield, which means the Reds join a host of clubs such as Juventus, Borussia Dortmund and Aston Villa in the only teams to go 2/2 so far in this season’s Champions League campaign.
Arne Slot’s side got off to a nervy start, after Bologna scored after just 9 minutes when Dutch forward Thijs Dallinga got in behind and scored in front of the Kop only for the linesman to raise his flag immediately, much to the distain of Bologna fans going crazy in the away end.
Their misery would be added to just 2 minutes later, after a glorious lobbed ball in from the right hand side from Mohamed Salah would be met by Alexis Mac Allister who tapped home from close range to open the scoring in front of the Anfield Road faithful. 1-0.

The Reds would continue to to probe, with Darwin Nunez running through and coolly slotting home past Łukasz Skorupski before the official would raise his flag against the Uruguayan. Liverpool would ease off from here, as Bologna enjoyed a good spell with winger Dan Ndoye having efforts come off the bar before a low, powerful shot hit the post in the 31st minute.
After some luck that protected the lead in the first half, it would be Alisson who would protect it in the second, making 2 crucial saves in the second half to deny the efforts from a hard-working Bologna side.
I Rossoblù’s lack of clinicality would be punished by a ruthless Mo Salah later on n the game though, where a wonderful bending effort just on the edge of the box would find its way into the top left hand corner in front of the Kop. It was Salah’s 45th Champions League goal, making the Egyptian the highest scoring African winger in the tournament’s history, overtaking former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba. 2-0.

Liverpool would coast to victory from here, moving into 5th and tied on points with 7 teams. Before returning to Champions League action, Liverpool face 2 London-based opponents in Crystal Palace and Chelsea before travelling to the Red Bull Arena to face RB Leipzig. Bologna face Parma this weekend before travelling to face Genoa, then return to England to face Aston Villa and try and do what Bayern Munich failed to achieve last night and leave Birmingham with at least point.
